Montesquieu Selected for Inaugural List of Fastest Growing Companies

San Diego, California, September 14, 2007 – Selected as one of the 5000 fastest growing companies in the United States, Montesquieu is proud to announce that they placed fourth among all wine sector companies. Montesquieu was recognized for their exceptional 126% growth rate.

Montesquieu’s growth can be attributed to their unique business model which brings boutique wines from around the world directly to the consumer. “It’s all about the wine” stated Montesquieu CEO Fonda Hopkins “We enable our 16,000 active clients to access hard to get wines at an exceptional value. Our clients come from all walks of life, with the
common thread being their love for great wine.”

Montesquieu was described by Inc. Magazine as a negociant (a French term for a wine merchant who assembles the produce of smaller growers and winemakers and handles the marketing). This allows Montesquieu to source wines and grapes that would otherwise be difficult or impossible for the public to obtain. As a negociant Montesquieu will occasionally buy juice
from a leading winery and have one of its star winemakers tweak it by blending or finishing it in their own exclusive style. It is this dynamic arrangement that has allowed Montesquieu to increase their revenue from $10.9 million to $24.7 million in just four years.

Inc. Magazine’s annual list was expanded this year from 500 to 5000. The list of the 5000 fastest growing publicly held companies was not easy to compile. In their own words “To complete this task, for almost a year we unleashed more than 70 researchers, reporters, editors and interns on the project, and we enlisted the help of dozens of business organizations and trade associations to boldly go where no news organization had gone before, to identify and profile the 5,000 fastest growing companies in America.” Inc. Magazine’s list of the top 5000 companies appeared on newsstands in September of 2007.
